Albanian Summer Salad: Vlorë

We were with my in-laws and husband at Maison de Chefs in Vlorë for a lovely beachfront dinner. The seafood was phenomenal! Of course, I had to archive the sauce they put on the John Dory for later. I’ll share it one of these days, but the salad was the showstopper that night! It was the perfect light yet hearty, sweet enough but not too sweet. Delicious salad!

Ingredients:

Young spinach

Sesame

Sunflower seeds

Sliced pear

Oranges

Olive oil

Chia

Plums

Fresh goat cheese

Cherry tomatoes

Add whole young spinach to a bowl, toss in the seeds, halved cherry tomatoes,

sliced pear, sliced oranges, and thinly sliced plums, then top with fresh goat cheese, drizzle with olive oil, and add your balsamic vinegar of choice. The combination is fabulous!

Vlorë is a fantastic, fun, energetic coastal city that’s a must-visit when in Albania. If you can’t get there, you can at least enjoy this fresh salad, which is perfect for any time of the year.
