Kavana inBox
My top favorite Split coffee place was Kavana inBox. While the range of coffee offered is still delicious, just regular without anything too special about it, it was the location and atmosphere of Kavana inBox, which made me spent hours and hours of writing and hanging out there. Situated near the ferry port and bus station, the streets outside quickly fill up with people, making it perfect for people watching and ideal if you get inspired by the hustle and bustle of city life. There was something extra special about walking in early in the morning as the cafe is just opening and finding a quiet table to the side. As the first sun rays were gently illuminating the empty streets, the refreshing breeze off the water was flowing into the cafe and was creating the perfect coffee experience. I also saw dolphins in the port while here many times.
Cafe Kala
As just a small whole in the ancient walls of the old town of Split, it was the unique atmosphere of Cafe Kala, which originally grabbed my attention. It was the divine coffee with super fluffy white foam and unusual flavors, though, which made me keep coming back to this fabulous coffee spot at the heart of the city. The warm homey atmosphere is perfect for cozying up during the cold winter days, while the small seating area outside is idyllic for taking a quick break during the hot summer months.
Marvlvs Library Jazz Bar
Sipping on a delicious cup of coffee at Marvlvs Library Jazz Bar is like taking a step back in time. Widely known as the birthplace of the father of Croatian literature – Marko Marulic, this quiet and cozy coffee place is the perfect location to spend a few hours working, reading a book and listening to peaceful music. The atmosphere is truly unique with its collection of books, furniture and interior feature from the 15th and 16th century. If you are looking for some inspiration, I strongly recommend visiting the Marvlvs Library Jazz Bar as one of the best Split cafes and cafe bars.
Next, I am also sharing the best Split coffee shops if you just want to get a coffee to go or buy some specialty coffee beans and take the scents and flavors of coffee to your home.
D16 Coffee
Situated right at the heart of the city, on a narrow cobblestone alley, D16 Coffee is among Split’s best places to grab a cup of coffee from. For some of the most delicious, exceptional coffee, I strongly suggest choosing among the specialty coffee arranged in the center of the shop. The staff is extremely fast and it feels like just a few seconds before you are ready to sip on your delicious coffee, yet their friendliness and kindness is second to none. D16 is classified as a coffee shop so you can just grab your cup and get cracking with your day, however, their seating is extremely comfortable and it is a pleasant spot to slowly enjoy your coffee in the morning.
4Coffee Soul Food
Despite being one of the tiniest Split coffee shops, 4Coffee Soul Food is definitely worth stopping by. As you take a step inside, you will be welcomed by the scent of freshly ground coffee beans and the wide and friendly smiles of the staff. Choose among the wide range of specialty coffee and grab it to go or enjoy a few minutes of sitting on the small chairs outside the central market and just people watch as the city is starting to wake up in the early hours of the morning. 4Coffee Soul Food is one of the best Split Cafes and Cafe Bars as having a cup of coffee there is an entire experience that will touch your soul.

If you wake up in a mood for something extraordinary and a bit unconventional then you should head straight to Split Coffee Roasters. Located in the city center, this charming little shop will surprise you with its unique range of coffee beans from all over the world. Start your day in colors when ordering pink or matcha latte. If you are lucky enough, you can even get available seating outside in the early hours of the morning.
KAVA2
If you are visiting Split during the warm summer days and you fancy a cold brew or a refreshing mocktail coffee, KAVA2 is the place for you! It is not just the divine scent of freshly grounded coffee beans, but also the minimal clean interior of KAVA2, which will grab your attention and make you come back over and over again. The staff is professional and friendly and they were the ones to tell me about European Coffee Trip, which is a fantastic way to find coffee shops and cafe bars in cities you visit.
