If unique fusion of historic cobblestone alleys and pristine white sandy beaches has already stolen your heart, I bet that you are ready to pack your bags and head to Split this summer. The Croatian coast has a lot to offer tourists. For those of you who are still unsure what to add to your travel itinerary, though, I have prepared the ultimate summer split activities guide. Keep reading to learn what are the best ways to fully experience Split!

Panoramic Cruise
While the narrow cobblestone alleys of Split are definitely worth getting lost in between, experiencing Split by water is one of the best summer activities. For just 20 Euros, visitors will be able to enjoy a 90-minute boat ride when joining the Mariner Panoramic Cruise. From the historical towns of Kaštela and Trogir to reaching small hidden beaches, the cruise offers stunningly beautiful views of Split and the surrounding area.
Boat Tours
Besides the Mariner Panoramic Cruise, visitors will be able to find endless opportunities for boat tours to the nearby islands and coastal towns when strolling down the Riva boardwalk. Located on the Bisevo island, the Blue Cave, is among the most popular boat tours together with booking a day trip to the Brac Island. If you are looking for something less crowded, yet equally worthy with a touch of romance even, I strongly suggest taking a sunset cruise. We joined one, which took us to the North, where we were able to take a glimpse of the Marijan park and Titos summer house. We were blessed with a truly spectacular sunset with golden and red shades of color intermingling with the light blue sky and turquoise waters.
Hop-on, Hop-off Buses
For those of you who only have limited time to explore Split, the hop-on hop-off buses are perfect for some sightseeing. With two main routes and more than 10 stops, visitors are able to get easy access to some of the most popular tourist attractions. The red line, for example, runs within the city of Split and passes along Diocletian’s Palace, the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, etc. The Blue line, on the other hand, is considered as a panoramic tour, which will take you on a 5-hour archaeological journey to the nearby towns – Salona, Trogir and Klis. Before 2020, a third route was also in operation – the green line, which involved ethno and foodie elements and would take you to Klis and Vranjaca Cave, so keep your eyes open for when it opens up again.
Water Sports Activities
Packed with pristine white sandy beaches, one of the top summer Split activities is trying various water sports. One of my favorite areas is towards Marijan park, which will completely blow your mind with the spectacular views of vertical white cliffs and forested lush green hills. Sea kayaking is a fantastic choice to experience the tranquility of the area.
With its crystal-clear waters, Split is also the perfect destination if you are looking for diving sites. Visitors can choose between a huge variety of scuba diving and snorkeling tours, which would take you on a real underwater adventure. From finding ancient shipwrecks to admiring colorful reefs and corals, you will definitely find water spots as one of the best summer Split activities.
Adventure seekers will be thrilled to know that Split is an area, which also offers huge variety of rafting and canyoning experiences in the nearby Cetina River.
Those of you who prefer just dipping your toes into the refreshing sea waters and then spending the entire day sunbathing on the beach, can head to the Bay Jezinac area, which does not only offer fabulous white sandy beaches, but it is also surrounded with a waterfront pathway perfect for strolling along and admiring the endless blue waters.
Evening Events
The hot sunny days in Split does not seem to end after sunset, as the city is home to various evening events during the summer months. The history buffs, for example, would love the Days of Diocletian, which would literally take you on a journey through time. As a celebration to the rich heritage of the city, visitors will be treated to fabulous show of Roman legions filling up the cobblestone streets parading under the sounds of ancient drums.
For the arts lovers, I cannot recommend the theatrical shows and operas in the Peristil Square. If you are lucky enough, you might be able to even catch one of Verdi’s most popular operas – Aida. Keep your eyes open for some unique national premieres, as a great way to fully experience the Croatian culture and traditions.

If you like the sounds of music, the open-air concerts, which normally take place at the beginning of July are definitely calling your name. From fantastic jazz events to beach techno parties, there is a bit of everything for everyone.
Which summer Split activities are you looking forward to experiencing? Are you a thrill-seekers looking forward to some water adventures, or do you prefer taking a relaxing, unwinding boat cruise?
